"Re-enactment of World War 2 Battle of Arnhem. Later lavishly remade as A Bridge Too Far." Part of Operation Market Garden, the Battle of Arnhem was a failed attempt to capture a bridge in the city of Arnhem in Holland. This remarkable docu-drama was shot 1 year after the battle, with the actual soldiers and civilians re-creating their experiences, and it features captured German armor.

Subject: Five Stars but Video Stream not working.
Thanks for posting but you may want to re-post this film. There are problems.
Excellent watch if you can get things to work. Stream not working = error msg about server problem? Had to download the mp4 file. I also embeded the code on my webpage at and that works if you dont mind waiting several minutes for the file to get going.

(Older Flash player does not produce this error-just takes forever to load).
Error msg as follows from newer html player:
The video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported:,

Subject: So Proud
I have been looking for this film for a long time. The reason being is that my granddad was in the paras at Armhem and he took part in this film. My father told me that my granddad was sitting in the back of a Jeep and played a wounded soldier.

Watching this film has filled me with immense pride and respect for what those soldiers went through. One scene is of a Dakota crashing into the German Anti aircraft battery that shot it down. The pilot steered the aircraft on to them.

The soldiers knew what a mega task they had in front of them, yet they still fought on. This isn't about the British or any other nationality, its about the true fighting spirit, about selfless men fighting to free people from a tyranny. The same can be said of the civilians that were in the middle.

I often wonder if I could have done the same as them. I feel very grateful that I don't have because of them. Finally, I think one of the most touching moments is at the end of the film when the survivors are back in their barracks and there are many empty bunks.
